This whole two jobs thing is ridiculous. I am learning about the production side of TV, but I’m also realizing that I’m far more interested in post-production. Color correction, editing, vfx, that sort of thing, that I can work on in my time, and my mistakes won’t be visible to the public as they happen, which is kind of a big deal. Also, running camera is boring town, and there are shots in the show that are just useless and make no sense. Whatev’s i’m making dolla dolla bills ya’ll.

Oh hello listeners!
So the new work schedule is pretty, um, demanding. I haven’t opened After Effects in the past 2 weeks. A good day is getting 5 hours of sleep.
The part time job is pretty awesome. Even though i have to be up at the witching hour to get to it on time. It’s pretty demanding and tense. The hour long show just flies by so fast you don’t even notice. There are so many mistakes that happen off camera and we have to scramble to fix it’s awesome.

I got a part time job working at a local TV station as a production assistant for the morning news show. Which is awesome, gets me in the TV/Studio fold and get some hands on training action, pay isn’t great, at all, but it’ll bring in a few extra hundred every month which means I’ll actually be able to pay bills! And not have to decide which ones to not pay every other month. I might actually be able to start saving up for a MacBookPro or decent iMac.
So the negatives? Oh, it’s from 4:30 AM to 9 AM, then I head to my full-time job at FedEx, and work from 12-7, get home around 8:30 PM, spend 2 hours with my wife, new born son, and 6 year old step-daughter and then it’s off to bed to be up at 3 AM to do it all over. I get to spend 2 hours every day with my family, and still be in debt. That’s living the American Dream right there, let me tell you.
So if anyone needs any video work done, I can do it on the weekends, so deadline essential stuff is kind of out of the question, since I literally don’t have time for it.
