The iPhone3G S and Social Media

The iPhone3G S and Social Media

It took about a half hour today after hearing the announcement of the iPhone3G S to REALLY get hit by the implications that it has for everyone. With it’s ridiculously low price point, this means thousands, if not millions of people will be walking around with digital camcorders, with a decent internet connection, everywhere they go.
Imagine the BART station shooting a few months ago, where the cops beat and then shot the innocent guy for no reason and then confiscated all onlookers camera phones, except this time 5 or so people had this new iPhone. While that happened, say, 2 of them recorded it, saw the cops coming after them, and instantly sent it to mobileME or to a few friends on their contact list, that also have an iPhone, those people then send it to THEIR friends. Within MINUTES the whole world would know what REALLY happened.
I think we’re going to start seeing a new wave of citizen journalism taking place, YouTube helped, but this is like the Monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey, this is world changing.
It’s amazing how far we’ve come.

Disintelligence TV

Disintelligence TV

Spent most of today working on the bumper artwork for Disintelligence TV, which will be a weekly show done by myself for Disintelligence.com focusing on, well, news and other such things. Mainly weird news, none of the stuff that you’ll be finding on your local news network.
First Episode should be up by Wednesday if I can get it put together in time, I spent pretty much all of today getting the bumper art put together, still need to do credits tomorrow.
Topics will include Microsoft’s Project Natal, The Army’s use of RFID chips in Pakistan as homing beacons, City Year and what the GIVE Act means for America and more.
DITV will focus mostly on strange news, think of it as….Weekly World News, but real, and in video format.
Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction.
Tune in over at Disintelligence.com and make sure to follow me on Twitter.

Anomaly Series

Anomaly Series

I’m starting a new series of abstracts, something I haven’t done in years. My initial Illustrator work was very abstract expressionist, and I’ve gotten away from that in the past few years. Time to revisit it!
I’m going to do a series of prints, entitled Anomalies, all stark black and whites. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them.
I’m considering turning them into a motion project as well. Sound off in the comments if you like them.

RandomEntity VideoCast, etc…

RandomEntity VideoCast, etc…

Okay, so no VCast today. I need to figure out how to stream from my desktop onto ustream, and if there’s an app that lets me switch between iSight AND screencasting that would be the bee’s knees. If not I may have to settle for just doing recordings and posting them later. If it becomes popular I may end up doing live shows. Who knows?

I also added google adsense ads onto the site, just to start bringing in some sort of revenue, and I’m trying to pump this blog up a bit more, if you hadn’t noticed, that and I can use whatever bit of scratch I can get.

Kyle Cooper I [heart] you.

Kyle Cooper I [heart] you.

To say that I, um idolize, Kyle Cooper, would be a bit off. He’s one of the main influences, inspirations, alright listen, he’s the man, deal with it. Since the opening credits of Se7en, I’ve been obsessed with his work. His companies Prologue and Imaginary Forces are two of the best studios in the business, working on Iron Man, the Spider-Man franchise, Se7en, Dreamcatcher, and recently Terminator Salvation, the list is huge.
Art of the Title has a little interview up over there that you should check out.
So go on, get on it.

OFFF 2009 Titles

OFFF 2009 Titles

Just saw this over at Motionographer. Holy smokes.
Kyle Cooper was involved so yeah, nothing less than astounding. It’s really amazing what just good camera work, some simple clean text and post production color correction can do.
